All of 2007 so far
November 2007 highlights

In part, a very frustrating month since many of the less usual species were either single-observer or stayed but a short length of time. These included Great Northern Diver, Bittern, White-fronted Goose, Arctic Skua, Wryneck, Snow Bunting, a possible Leach’s Petrel and a Phalarope sp.

Much more obliging was a Short-eared Owl at Ogston and a Long-tailed Duck at Williamthorpe whilst the county’s fourth Great White Egret did at least show again after the initial sighting.

An impressive total of 12 gull species included what was presumed to be last year’s returning Ring-billed Gull at Carsington. There were also a few Caspian Gulls for those anxious to add to their list after the recent upgrade.

Add some winter swans, another huge Mandarin Duck count, passage Pink-footed Geese, a good range of waders, a few Common Crossbill and a big influx of Siskin and hopefully there was something for everyone during November.
